Who is she, anyway?

Hello, everyone! My name is Alyssa Kay Girvin (formerly Luse), photographer extraordinaire and (I hope) all around enjoyable character. I'm excited to present to you my work and passion and I hope you enjoy experiencing every image as much as I enjoy creating each one. Thank you for stopping in!

My Story

Alyssa Kay was born on the little island of Wrangell, Alaska. Even though she didn't really start photographing until she was 17, she remembers taking her first picture at five years old. She was asked to take a photo of her grandparents with certain family members and from then on was hooked! The ability to freeze a moment in time and to capture a memory forever kept her coming back, time and again and inspired her to keep taking pictures.

"I love those quiet moments when you can just be you and enjoy life. I love to capture the emotion of those moments, whether happy or sad. In those moments I feel a real connection."

At a young age, she move to the small European country of Romania, where she lived off and on for 8 years. In that time, her love for documenting the life of the people, the culture, and the events of friends and family grew. After taking a year photography course online, she knew that it wasn't enough! She needed more training.

In September of 2015-June 2016, Alyssa Kay attended the prestigious Hallmark Institute of Photography in Western Massachusetts and there gained a set of skills that she is excited to use to hone her craft. She will always be grateful for the many instructors that took a caring interest in her learning and her direction in life and hopes that one day she can also guide other young photographers as they guided her.

She has relocated to Dallas, Texas and is available for travel world-wide!
